FUCKING CUBS BULLPEN! That is all I can say after watching my Cubbies score 7, yes 7 runs in the 7th, only to give up 4 in the 8th to lose by a run. DAMN YOU CUBS BULLPEN!!!!
As for the Play of the Day by Umpiregod yesterday, the Padres downed the Brewers 8-6. Congrats on the trifecta by toadjr, hitting the right winner and the perfect 8-6 prediction on the score!
Tonight we will have the Jazz hosting the Spurs. I know it is in Utah, but I don't see the Spurs losing til game 4, so I am putting it on the Spurs to win outright, 101-99.
Good luck, you wont see me online again til Thursday, as I am going to Chicago for my honeymoon! Cubs game Monday afternoon vs. the Marlins, a day in China Town, fireworks, and great steaks at Harry Carey's place! Have fun, I know you all will miss me and my takes on things. But I will have the next few days POD's posted for you all, just no winners announced til Thursday.
When the Umpiregod Play of the Day began, the rules were posted and are always enforced to the letter as they were printed. This brings us to last night's POD. The Pistons hung on for a 79-76 win, which gave us our winner. Lucky for this winner, the rules state that once I receive an email from an entrant with a final score and prediction, that cannot be changed with a follow up email. A BET LAID IS A BET PLAYED---so hence, our winner last night is philly713, with his original pick of Pistons winning 80-76. The second addended email is no good bro, so be happy I know these rules as you just got yourself 10K in NBX Classic Points!
Tonight we will take in the sun and the surf of lovely San Diego, with the Padres and Greg Maddux hosting Dave Bush and the Milwaukee Brewers. GOOD LUCK!
A perfect trifecta in Umpiregods Play of the Day Contest usually means one person did extremely well and won hands down the night before. But to have a trifecta of perfect trifecta's, now that is a rarity, although the more baseball season continues the more I see this happening. However, last night, when the Yankees downed the BoSox 8-3, we had yanksguyX2, reservoirdog and pwoo10 each get the winner and score right for each team...A varitible who's who for Umps POD Contests. Congrats to all three of you.
Tonight we go back to hoops and visit the Cavs/Pistons for the POD.
For those of you intrigued by the broken bat homer and the like of the New Ulm Brewers, they pulled off another come-from-behind win last night, taking out Redwood Falls 11-4. Redwood jumped out early, but my partner who called balls and strikes had some heated exchanges with New Ulm, and that jumpstarted them. The guy who had the broken bat homer on Sunday launched two out of the park, with a total of four homeruns hit for the night combined. I was sure that someone was getting tossed for arguing balls and strikes, but in the end, it never happened. Oh well, I guess there is always tomorrow night's Springfield Tigers/Sleepy Eye Indians game to hope for ejections. Just hope Sleepy Eye has enough guys to play the game.
With the Spurs win Tuesday 105-96, barbara66 became a winner, taking the Spurs and a score of 105-101 in Umpiregod's Play of the Day contest. Way to go!
Wednesday night I wanted to do the New Ulm Brewers vs. the Redwood Falls Redbirds, but not enough of you know much about either team (I ump that game tonight...New Ulm coming off a come-from- behind 5-4 win over the Stark Longhorns on Sunday night...Highlights included a broken bat 394 foot home run by New Ulm in the 6th that ended a 15 inning streak of not giving up a run by Stark and the Brew Crew holding off a fierce two-run ninth inning rally to hold on for the win...New Ulm (considered the Yankees of the Tomahawk League East Amatuer baseball league) is favored to win this one by the way with an over/under of 10.5). So with that speaking we will have the Boston Red Sox vs the New York Yankees. Schillling (4-1, 3.57 ERA) vs Pettite (2-3, 2.83 ERA). These two have done battle once already this year, in a rematch of an April 20 contest in Boston. Schilling allowed five runs and eight hits - including two homers - in seven innings, but the Red Sox rallied with five runs in the bottom of the eighth and won 7-6. Schilling is 2-1 with 2 ND in his last five outings against the Yanks dating back to 5-10, 2006, while Pettite is 0-1 with a ND vs the BoSox this season alone. Boston has also won 8 of the last 10 vs the Yanks, with the only pitcher managing a win against the Sox being Tim Wakefield. All signs lead to one result, a Red Sox victory, sending Joe Torre to manage somewhere else next season. The trend for the total runs scored leads to the over of 9.5 as well, with only 2 of the last 8 matchups between these two teams going under that total, and I could see a 6-4 Boston win fairly easily.
The votes are also all in for the Umpiregod Play of the Day Hall of Fame. Announcements will be posted on Saturday with the final results and inagural cast of the Umpiregod POD HOF.
Quick and easy for you---Sunday we had yanksguyX2 win with his 106-102 San Antonio prediction.
Monday, toadjr01 won with his 8-6 White Sox win (ChiSox won 8-5).
Tuesday POD game is Utah vs SA game 2 on ESPN!
Tonight will be the Oakland Chicago White Sox game.
Winner from Sunday to post later, long morning, sorry...Work calls.
For yesterday's POD, we had Boston against the Atlanta Braves. Although I stated it was a night game, I did add that Dice K was tossing for the BoSox, which he did, but in the afternoon game. So there is no confusion, we have two winners today, JON--who had the closest to the score of the BOSox win with a 11-3 Boston prediction, and sabinthesavior, who in his pick email said that it was for the night game and that the Braves would rebound from their afternoon loss. He had Atlanta witha score of 8-4, so both of you get points. Whether you get 10K each of 5K each is up to NBX, but whatever you get, I don't want to hear ANY complaints. Great job, onto tonight's game.
For Sunday's Umpiregod's POD, we will have the Jazz against the soon-to-be NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. Good luck, but i am not touching any more NBA games this year on my bets.
I umpired a game last night, two very good adult baseball teams...without errors and walks, it probably would still be going on in a 0-0 tie...But in the 7th, I almost got my first ejection of the season...ALMOST, but not an actually ejection, but I can't wait to do the team that bitched tomorrow night in their next game...Better learn to kep their mouths shut.
As far as the POD, yesterday with the fucking SPurs winning 114-106, lucybell took the prize with the correct prediction of Spurs and a score of 108-101. WAY TO GO!
Tonight we will have the Braves traveling to the Bawston Red Sox...Dice K in the house, Gyroball scalps the Braves! Take the BoSox, give the 1.5-points and take the under of 9.5...Bawston takes this one 5-2.
We have just a few days left to vote on the POD Hall of Fame...Remember you get one email vote, up to three people on your ballot...nominees again are JON, donamg, lucybell, yanksguyX2, maffia, jsun, philly713, scottyXwinX and mdriskell.
For the second night in a row, califnik has won the Umpiregod Play of the Day, correctly picking the Pistons to win with a score of 96-85 (they won 95-85 if you did not see)...This edged out 8, yes 8, people who were within 2 or 3 points of the Pistons score. GREAT ONE BRO!!!! KEEP IT UP!
Tonight the Spurs vs the Suns game is the POD. I see a pissed off Suns team taking out the Spurs in San Antonio by a final of 105-97, but that is my pick, not yours!
I can't figure it out...I get over a mil in winnings in Classic, then bam, get married and lose 800k...wow! Anywho, time for catchup on Umpiregod's Play of the Day.
Tuesday night the Astros somehow managed to beat the Giants 6-5, biggest single game loss for me since the fucking Bears choked in the Bowl. That left a perfect trifecta for the winner who was yanksguyX2, nailing the winner and the 6-5 score. Great one man!
Wednesday night we saw the Nets down the Cavs 83-72. Only three people even predicted the winner right, but the winner of the POD was a first timer in califnik, who had it Nets 95-89. WOO HOO!!!! Nice to see the newbies win!
Tonight (Thursday) we will have the Bulls vs. the Pistons. Who the fuck knows what will happen, but I bet it won't be a close game!
Until Friday, here is hoping all your winning bets are BIG ONES!!!!

Welcome to the PLAY OF THE DAY
The Play Of The Day is run by NBX player and Wiseguy commish422. Every day you have a chance to name the winner of a designated game and get closest to the points total. Do that, and you can win an extra 10,000 pts. Good luck!
Play-of-the-Day Rules
1. You must pick the winner correctly to be in the running for the 10,000 points. Pick the winner wrong and you are automatically out for that game.
2. Out of those that correctly picked the winner, the one who guessed the winning teams score closest to the real point total they had, whether it be over or under that total, is the winner.
3. If two or more people tie for the winning teams score total, it goes to the losing teams total score, with the same rules in effect.
4. If two or more people are still tied after going through the winning and losing teams individual score totals, the final tiebreaker is the total points scored. Closest to this total is the winner. If there is still a tie, we have a tie for the contest and mulitple winners.
5. There is to be NO WHINING about this contest. If you don't like the way that it is being run, you don't have to enter it. This is a contest that was started to be fun and give everyone a chance to get some extra points, so let's have it be that way.
6. The judge cannot be entered in the contest, nor does he care who wins or loses. There will be NO favoritism shown by him in this contest.
7. Do NOT ask the judge how many people have the game as the over or the under or how many people have taken one team or the other. All of these questions will be ignored. This contest is not to be used to help someone ascertain how to bet on a particular game.
8. Once you make your pick and send it in, don't even think of changing it. A bet layed is a bet played.
