WAY Too Busy

June 29, 2007 by Umpiregod

Here are the next two Umpiregod Play's Of The Day, winners of Wednesday and Thursday will come later today.

Friday's game is the Twins vs. the Tigers...Santana vs. Verlander.

Saturday we will have the Padres at the Dodgers.

Winners, New Games

June 27, 2007 by Umpiregod

Winners for Sunday and Monday: Sunday: barbara66, had it 5-2 Detroit (the Tigers won 5-0) and Monday was toadjr01 with an 8-4 Dodgers prediction (LA won 8-1).

Wednesday will be the White Sox at Tampa Bay while Thursday will have Cincinnati at Philly.

Sorry no game for Tuesday, life gets busy here sometimes.

Yeah, Yeah I know

June 24, 2007 by Umpiregod

Yes, I know I have started doing this Umpiregod's Play of the Day posting and awarding of points every other day, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do!

As for your winners, Friday night it came down to toadjr01 with his 8-6 Mets win prediction as the Mets won 9-1.

Saturday was a close one. gjecat had it 5-4 SF, raceman 49 had it 7-4 SF, each person was one off the winning team score, but the tie breaker rules give it to raceman49 for having picked 11 total runs scored.

As for Sunday and Monday, Sunday is of course the ESPN Sunday Night Game, with Detroit traveling to Atlanta, while Monday will pit the Dodgers at Arizona.

Good luck and keep those pick coming. I am on TOTAL reload now, so you don't see me as much as usual, just allowing me to catch up with life.

Boss is Lurking, Have to be Quick

Thursday winner: Walton13 perfect trifecta with his 6-5 Rangers win prediction.

Friday game: Oakland at Mets

Saturday game: Yanks at SF Giants.

Two Days of Women

June 20, 2007 by Umpiregod

Monday and Tuesday's Umpiregod's Play of the Day were both taken by women, with barbara66 winning with her 4-2 score and a Boston win Tuesday and lucybell's 9-6 Cleveland prediction for Monday. Alright gals! Way to go!

Tonight (Wednesday) will be the Orioles at the Padres, while Thursday will be my beloved Cubs traveling to the Rangers. Good luck on these!

Monday Play of the Day

June 18, 2007 by Umpiregod

The weekend is over, three more games under my umpiring belt and still no ejections, but there will be the one yet, guaranteed...Can't go a whole season without one!

As for the Play of the Days---Saturday the Reds won over the Rangers 8-4, yet neither Jon nor Donamg was the winner, our biggest Reds fans of NBX, although dona came close. Dona had it 8-1 Reds, but kennyd41 took the points with his prediction of a 8-3 Cincinnati Reds win (BTW< if anyone has watched the HBO show John from Cincinnati...wtf is going on? I missed the first 10 min of the premier, and I can't follow this series for shit...Where the fuck did this John guy come from really? It definately is NOT Cincinnati...)

On Sunday night the Yanks took out the Mets on Sunday night baseball (the staple Sunday game for the POD) 8-2, giving the win to JON who had it 8-3 Yanks...Way to go!

As for tonight the game will be Philly with Cole Hamels traveling to Cleveland who has the 3-4 Cliff Lee on the hill. The Phillies (36-33) have won 10 of the last 12 starts for Hamels, who leads the NL in wins, strikeouts (104) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.52). The left-hander also tops the league with 16 home runs allowed, but has received 72 runs of support - second-most in the NL. I see a Philly win in this game, but again, what the fuck do I know?

Tuesday will see us take in Boston with Josh Beckett at Atlanta with Tim Hudson, so get your pick in for that one too, but remember to send in different emails with each pick or you may have your Tuesday game overlooked.

The Living Legend Continues Streak

June 16, 2007 by Umpiregod

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that we have another living legend on NBX, the Umpiregod Play of the Day legend that is---cubasaurus---With the Mets winning last night 2-0, good old cubasaurus continued to shame the rest of NBX with his winning prediction of a Mets 4-3 win, being the closest to the winning team's score. WOW is all this legend of NBX can say about him! Great job, now let's see someone take him down!

Tonight we will have the Texas Rangers on the road at Cincinnati...Should be a great one for donamg and JON, the biggest Reds fans I have ever met ANYWHERE (I did not think that a Reds fan existed to be honest...lol)...Good luck on this game folks, with the Rangers and the Reds, anything can and probably will happen!

A Somber Day in POD Land

June 15, 2007 by Umpiregod

Today is a sad day for Umpiregod and the POD, as one of our own, toddjjbl, passed away a few short days ago. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and if there is anything that the Ump can do, please let me know. We all know that NBX has become more than just a place to hang, it is a family to some of us, and we are all here to help out in any way possible.

As for the POD yesterday, the Spurs won the title, what else is new...83-82 final. Purplepeopleeater won it with a prediction of a final of 85-78, edging out scottyxWINx who had it 81-74, closest to the losing team score won this one.

Tonight the Mets vs the Yanks is the game for the POD. Good luck!

Something Strange Is Afoot

June 14, 2007 by Umpiregod

Diego, you fucking with the Umpiregod Play of the Day? This is the second time this week that I have posted this only to find out it did not save, so there must be a conspiracY!

Anywho---last night we had extreme469 win with his 6-2 Twins winning prediction.

Tonight we will have hoops, hopefully for the last time (They should NOT be playing hoopsin the middle of fucking June!!!!)---Cavs vs Spurs, game four...GOOD LUCK!

Please End This Thing

I am SOOOO fucking sick and tired and bored with basketball...I mean, come on....WTF? Playoffs going into the middle of fucking June? This is a winter sport, now it is almost summer and they are still playing...let's hope this ends tonight!

For Wednesday night, we had my Twins vs the Braves....Harken back to '91, Smoltz vs Morris game 7 of the World Series...1-0 Morris wins while going the distance of 10 innings...Then last night, we had Silva looking like a baseball stud as he led the Twins to a 6-0 win, also helping extreme469 to a Umpiregod Play of the Day contest win with his Twins win and score of 6-2.

Tonight we will have what I hope is the last NBA game for a while, as the Spurs take on the Cavs, but knowing how the money makes Stern go round, I can see this thing going another game. Hey the ratings are down, which means the revenues are as well, so what a better way to make a few more bucks than making the Spurs throw the game and go one more (great, now I am beginning to think like diegohustla round here, with all the conspiracy theories....lol)

Well, good luck and may all your winning bets be BIG ONES!!!!

Welcome to the PLAY OF THE DAY

The Play Of The Day is run by NBX player and Wiseguy commish422. Every day you have a chance to name the winner of a designated game and get closest to the points total. Do that, and you can win an extra 10,000 pts. Good luck!

Play-of-the-Day Rules

1. You must pick the winner correctly to be in the running for the 10,000 points. Pick the winner wrong and you are automatically out for that game.

2. Out of those that correctly picked the winner, the one who guessed the winning teams score closest to the real point total they had, whether it be over or under that total, is the winner.

3. If two or more people tie for the winning teams score total, it goes to the losing teams total score, with the same rules in effect.

4. If two or more people are still tied after going through the winning and losing teams individual score totals, the final tiebreaker is the total points scored. Closest to this total is the winner. If there is still a tie, we have a tie for the contest and mulitple winners.

5. There is to be NO WHINING about this contest. If you don't like the way that it is being run, you don't have to enter it. This is a contest that was started to be fun and give everyone a chance to get some extra points, so let's have it be that way.

6. The judge cannot be entered in the contest, nor does he care who wins or loses. There will be NO favoritism shown by him in this contest.

7. Do NOT ask the judge how many people have the game as the over or the under or how many people have taken one team or the other. All of these questions will be ignored. This contest is not to be used to help someone ascertain how to bet on a particular game.

8. Once you make your pick and send it in, don't even think of changing it. A bet layed is a bet played.
