Well, can you handle the Truth? It’s my turn to take the reigns of the Play-of-the-Day. And I am more excited than a date with a University of Louisville cheerleader (but we have all month to get back to that story). This experiment first started back in the cold February winter with Umpiregod implementing the contest. Some of you in the upper Midwest couldn’t even see outside your front door, for all the snow on the ground at the time. Then, secondly, last month it was hotter than a firecracker when Commish422 took over. And, now…cue up the timpani music…. it is I, the quintessential point spread stud taking the POD hostage. As any starry-eyed gambler will tell you, the third time is a charm.

A little about me (because I know you were wondering)… I started betting on sports when I was a teenager, and grew up in the shadow of Churchill Downs; I actually spent two years of my life paying the bills by betting on football and doing freelance writing. But those pesky off-season months of February to July killed that venture fairly quickly. I stumbled upon NBX one afternoon last year while listening to the Jim Rome Show. The host had Dave Stewart on as a guest, opining about this ultimate in contests for sports fans. I made my first NBX bets during the college football bowl contest and the rest is history.

Oh yes…I guess you are baiting me to get to the actual POD selection. First, a little housekeeping…in Commish422’s last POD of August, the Washington Huskies trashed Syracuse 42-12 in Friday night action. And jp5765 scores the win with a 37-13 predicted score. Congrats. Now I give you Saturday’s selection…it’s Tennessee versus California in prime time. It’s Rocky Top versus beaches and sand, it’s the Governator versus Fred Thompson, its wine coolers versus whiskey…but you get the drift. What will the final score be? What say you?

The first NCAAF POD was LSU at MISS. ST. With the final a 45-0 whitewash, with his score of 45-10 Tigers Wiseguy SoonnerFan44 wins via the tie-breaker system. Second place props go to gjecat with a 45-17 score. Maybe the DIRTY SOCKS make up a little bro!

The final POD for AUGUST will stay with NCAAF, with the Washington Huskies invading Syracuse Orangemen. Current line is Wash -3 and a ML of -171. Should be a little closer game!

Again I want to thank all of the Wiseguys (and Gals) for helping to get the POD back on course. On AUG 1 there were 19 scores submitted. Today right at 49. The number keeps growing daily, lets keep the trend moving upwards!

About dam time! The Boys of Summer can take a backseat as their races are winding down, some teams just playing out the string and the like.
As I mentioned yesterday Saturday POD will have a new host for September. Wiseguy mrtruth will take the controls on this cruise. I will allow him to introduce himself as he sees fit.
This is a planned thing by NBX and the 2 of us. I will return in October and we will rotate month to month.

Tuesdays POD was Twins and Tribe. I still cant figure out what kind of a name BOOF is! Anyway Tribe prevailed here 6-5. With the nuts first-time winner alparr scores 10k. In a 3 way dead-heat for second was junkies millennium21,dom sr and mdriskell with their 6-4 scores. A box of Kleenex to all.

Wed. Commish is gonna use Boston and the Yankees. Yes I know this is the 2nd time this week for Bombers, but hey....its on ESPN. Josh Beckett with his 16-5 record and 3.21 era will face off with Rodger Clemens, 5-5 and a 4.34 era. I promise junkies I will not use Yanks again.

Mondays POD was the Yanks and Tigers. As most Junkies could guess...no one had the Nut score of 16-nil Tigers. Coming closest under the tie-breaking rules was wiseguy califnik with a 8-5 guess. Losing out on the tie-breaker was raceman49 with his 8-6 score. Close again bro.

Welcome to the PLAY OF THE DAY
The Play Of The Day is run by NBX player and Wiseguy commish422. Every day you have a chance to name the winner of a designated game and get closest to the points total. Do that, and you can win an extra 10,000 pts. Good luck!
Play-of-the-Day Rules
1. You must pick the winner correctly to be in the running for the 10,000 points. Pick the winner wrong and you are automatically out for that game.
2. Out of those that correctly picked the winner, the one who guessed the winning teams score closest to the real point total they had, whether it be over or under that total, is the winner.
3. If two or more people tie for the winning teams score total, it goes to the losing teams total score, with the same rules in effect.
4. If two or more people are still tied after going through the winning and losing teams individual score totals, the final tiebreaker is the total points scored. Closest to this total is the winner. If there is still a tie, we have a tie for the contest and mulitple winners.
5. There is to be NO WHINING about this contest. If you don't like the way that it is being run, you don't have to enter it. This is a contest that was started to be fun and give everyone a chance to get some extra points, so let's have it be that way.
6. The judge cannot be entered in the contest, nor does he care who wins or loses. There will be NO favoritism shown by him in this contest.
7. Do NOT ask the judge how many people have the game as the over or the under or how many people have taken one team or the other. All of these questions will be ignored. This contest is not to be used to help someone ascertain how to bet on a particular game.
8. Once you make your pick and send it in, don't even think of changing it. A bet layed is a bet played.
